Eversheds beefs up aviation team with new hire

Global top 15 law firm Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Law Society Diploma Centre lecturer Aaron McGarry as a consultant in the firm’s Dublin-based international aviation team.

The aviation industry in Dublin is recognised globally as a centre of excellence, with many of the leading global aircraft lessors located here.

Growing demand

Eversheds Sutherland says the appointment will match the aviation sector’s growing demand for legal services.

Alan Murphy (managing partner  of Eversheds Sutherland) says: “We are delighted to have Aaron join our growing international aviation team.

"His specific expertise and experience will be a hugely valuable addition to the firm. Aaron will focus on aviation finance and derivative transaction."

Asset financing

Aaron McGarry has over 15 years’ experience acting for banks, lessors and investors on a broad range of domestic and international asset financing transactions, involving commercial fixed-wing aircraft and rotary aircraft in relation to loan facilities, revolving credit facilities, and pre-delivery payment facilities, among others.

In addition, he has advised on a number of aviation ABS structures (some of which are also listed notes on the Irish stock exchange), and on all aspects of the Cape Town Convention.

He has also acted for investment funds, corporates, trustees and banks on a number of derivative transactions and bond issuances, particularly regarding regulatory compliance, drafting and negotiating ISDA Master Agreements, and with respect to trustees’ roles and responsibilities in transactions.

Derivatives

McGarry has lectured on the Law Society’s diploma courses on derivatives for a number of years.

He says: “I’m really excited about advising and supporting new and existing aviation sector clients and working with the international team to build the aviation practice here.”

Eversheds Sutherland is currently Ireland’s only full-service, global law practice with an all-island presence and multidisciplinary expertise. Eversheds Sutherland has 69 offices in 32 countries, including seven offices in the US.
