Fieldfisher appoints data-protection partner

European law firm Fieldfisher has appointed Ciara Burke as partner at its Dublin office, where she will head the team involved in data protection and privacy.

Fieldfisher says that the move will support growing demand from clients for advice on navigating legislation and regulation in this area.

Burke will also be part of the firm’s global privacy-and-data practice.

She joins Fieldfisher from Meta, having also worked previously at LinkedIn, where she provided in-house counsel on data-protection issues.

‘Wealth of experience’

The firm believes that her expertise allows her to offer strategic and practical legal advice, with a keen focus on embedding data-protection practices in products, services and in the day-to-day running of an organisation.

JP McDowell (Fieldfisher Ireland managing partner, pictured) said that Burke brought “a wealth of experience” working with technology and social-media companies.

Since a merger with McDowell Purcell in 2019, Fieldfisher's Dublin office has grown, recording a 9% increase in revenue in the 2022/23 financial year.

The office currently has 120 employees.
