Two new partners at Fieldfisher Ireland

Fieldfisher Ireland LLP has appointed two new partners, bringing the total number of partners in its Irish business to 15.

Jonathan Moore has been appointed as a partner in the planning-and-environmental practice, and Johan Verbruggen becomes a partner and head of the medical-negligence practice.

The announcement follows the recent appointment of Ciara Burke as partner and head of data protection and privacy in late 2023.

‘Growing area’

The firm says that Moore’s appointment signifies “a substantial commitment” to its long-term regulatory clients in the “complex and growing” area of planning and environmental law, citing the recent establishment of a dedicated High Court division.

Fieldfisher states that Verbruggen will collaborate closely with its international team, working with counterparts in Fieldfisher UK’s medical-negligence practice.

Verbruggen previously ran a branch office of a medical-negligence practice in the west of Ireland. Since qualifying in 2016, he has represented injured patients and families of those who have died in hospital in several high-profile cases and inquests.

JP McDowell (Fieldfisher Ireland managing partner) said: “The expansion of Fieldfisher’s expertise aligns seamlessly with the firm’s extensive institutional knowledge and years of experience in the healthcare, planning, and environmental spaces.”
