AML to open lunchtime webinar series

The first in a series of lunchtime webinars on regulatory matters run by Law Society Professional Training will cover anti-money-laundering (AML).

The live Zoom event takes place on Wednesday 18 September and is worth one CPD hour for client care and professional standards by e-learning.

The one-hour webinar aims to provide a user-friendly guide to best-practice AML in operation.

At the end of this webinar participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key AML regulatory requirements that apply to solicitors’ practices in Ireland,
  • Appreciate the procedures needed to support AML compliance,
  • Gain an insight into AML best practice in operation,
  • Apply a practical approach to AML compliance in the workplace,
  • Recognise AML red flags that may require additional action, and
  • Identify areas within your AML procedures that could be improved.

Chair and speaker

The Law Society’s Regulatory Communications Manager Eamonn Maguire will chair the event.

The speaker is Simon Treanor (Law Society Legal Services Regulation Executive), who acts as liaison officer with the Legal Services Regulatory Authority.

He deals with matters relating to practising certificates, professional indemnity insurance, anti-money-laundering, and other regulatory aspects of the solicitors’ profession.

  • Cyber-crime (9 October), and
  • Preparing for an inspection (16 October).
