Solicitor John Cronin to chair Abbey Theatre

Solicitor John Cronin has been named as the new chair of the board of the Abbey Theatre.

The appointment takes effect from yesterday (1 August) for a term of four years and follows an open call for expressions of interest advertised by the Public Appointments Service.

Cronin is a former chair and managing partner at law firm McCann FitzGerald.

Vision

He served for almost three years as a non-executive director of the Dublin Theatre Festival.

Separately, he was a non-executive director at Kingspan Group for nine years and is a former president and board member of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce.

“I am confident that John will contribute his extensive experience and vision to the Abbey Theatre,” said Catherine Martin (Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media).
