Courts Service refreshes probate info online

As part of the Courts Service modernisation programme, the content on probate has been refreshed.

The Courts Service has said that the content is clear, easy to understand, accurate, and meets the needs of all those who interact with the probate process.

“The goal is to make it easy for both legal practitioners and personal applicants to understand the steps involved in the process, what information they will need to provide each step of the way, and what they can expect from us.

“We also have a new tool that helps people to check in advance if they're entitled to apply,” said a spokeswoman.

Key features

  • Step-by-step guide to the probate process for both personal applicants and solicitors,
  • Clear information on required fees and documentation,
  • Useful guidance on how to complete certain key documents,
  • A probate eligibility checker to help personal applicants understand if they are eligible to apply,
  • All existing links and bookmarks will continue to work as before and will redirect to the new website content.
