Covid-19 Annual Leave Policy

Law Society employees are required to take a minimum number of annual leave days by 30 June 2021 and be aware of the Travel Abroad guidance.

The following Covid-19 Annual Leave Policy must be read in conjunction with the Society’s Annual Leave Policy in the Employee Handbook.

Mandatory Annual Leave does not apply to employees who are availing of long-term legislative leave, long-term sick leave or to those who are on career break.

Mandatory Annual Leave

All employees are required to take the following annual leave:

  • 6 days’ mandatory leave must be taken by 30 June 2021

Special cases will be considered on an individual case by case basis. Please put this in writing to your manager a month in advance of the request for it to be considered.

Part-Time Workers

The specified days for mandatory annual leave are applied on a pro-rata basis for part-time workers.  For example:

If 6 days annual leave apply to full-time employees, a part-time worker who works 2.5 days per week will be required to take 50% or 3 days mandatory annual leave by the date specified.

Requests for Annual Leave

The Society reserves the right to withhold permission for vacations on dates, which would interfere with operational requirements. Under no circumstances should you book a holiday / make travel arrangements without first getting approval from your line manager.

Travel Abroad

The most recent government advice on travel abroad is available on the Department of Foreign Affairs website.

Employees are advised to follow government advice in relation to restrictions on movement and travel to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

If you do plan to travel abroad, then you must notify your manager of your intention to do so in advance of your travel.
