News

  • The latest Gazette covers the recent In-House Panel Discussion, which discussed how in-house lawyers can achieve the ‘holy grail’ for the service professional – the role of trusted legal advisor. This discussion is available to view on the LegalEdTalks platform. Read the Gazette
  • Nominations have opened for elections to the Law Society of Ireland Council. By joining the Law Society of Ireland Council, in-house solicitors can play an important role in shaping and developing the future of their profession. Nominations are due by 28 September 2020.   • Legal technology company LexTech is inviting solicitors to participate in the 2020 Future of Law Forum, which this year is called the 'Digital Legal Day'. This year's forum takes place on Thursday, 24th September, covering digital solutions in commercial, property and litigation practice areas. For more information, visit the LexTech website
  • The Law Society’s Younger Members Committee is organising a series of online information sessions with content of relevance to many in-house practitioners.   • A range of new books are available to borrow from the Law Society Library. These include Smart Collaboration for In-House Legal Teams by Heidi K. Gardner, along with other relevant titles on data protection, contract law, tax, employee rights and more. See new Library books
  • The Support Services section of the Law Society recently organised an Information Session in collaboration with Revenue to give practitioners useful information on the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS), tax warehousing, and other issues highlighted by the profession. Watch the briefing

  • The Annual In-House & Public Sector Conference 2020 will take place on 5 November. Focused on enhancing the effectiveness of the in-house legal team, and developments in Legal Professional Privilege, this event will be live online.
