News

The Law Society Library has published useful resources to support practitioners who want to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI) The starter guide, 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Legal Practice' outlines the basic concepts of AI and AI policy and regulation issues. It also covers issues around the use of AI in legal education and legal research and the risks and challenges of using AI assisted technologies in legal practice.

For a more comprehensive dip into AI, the latest Subject Guide brings together a wide range of resources in one location. Find details of relevant books, eBooks, Gazette and other journal articles, professional guidance and law and policies including the EU’s AI Act due to be passed into law later this year.

Training

Booking is now open for the In-house and Public Sector Panel Discussion 2024. Taking place on 1 May, from 2 pm to 4.30 pm, at the Law Society, the theme this year is ‘Innovating and Leading in Transformative Times’. The Panel Discussion will focus on AI; the practical implications and usage for in-house solicitors and the organisations/businesses they serve across the public and private sectors. The event will also be covering the topic of in-house solicitor’s skillset being transferable to other non-legal roles, a discussion aimed at broadening career considerations for the legal profession.

The European Company Lawyers Association has opened applications for a range of Corporate Counsel Academy courses, including AI for in-house counsel, drafting international contracts and more.
