Role of the Committee
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee has as its members, solicitors experienced in arbitration, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution who have an understanding of the needs of parties to arbitration and mediation, and the needs of their legal advisor. The objectives of the Committee are threefold:
- To promote arbitration, mediation, and other alternative methods of resolving disputes (other than litigation).
- To assist members of the profession in relation to arbitration, mediation, and other forms of dispute resolution.
- To monitor the operation of arbitration and mediation law and practice, and make appropriate input to its development.

Current issues on the Committee's agenda include:
- Management of the Law Society's Panel of Arbitrators and Find a Mediator service.
- Promotion of mediation, arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to the profession.
- Providing information to the profession on developments in alternative dispute resolution, including notes on key judgments.
